Artist and bookbinder Paulette Rosen of Hamden has been an instructor of book arts since 1996 and is now head of the Book Arts Department at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven. Rosen has recently developed a program that introduces young children to the art of making books, which she teaches in New Haven and Orange public schools. With many works influenced by her love for the beauty in nature, Rosen relies on and commends the accessibility of nature here in Hamden. Her work has been shown in various locations in Hamden, New Haven and Waterbury, including her newest solo show, Birds Watching, at City Gallery in New Haven and On Nature at The Gallery at Whitney Center in Hamden. Rosen, herself, studied bookbinding at the Creative Arts Workshop from 1991 to 1996. Prior, she received her M.A. in Child and Family Studies at the The Merrill Palmer Institute in Detroit and her B.S. in Arts and Media from William James College and Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
