Elizabeth (Eli) Cleary

New Haven-born, Hamden resident Cleary is an economist by day and passionate poet the rest of her waking hours. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals including Verse Wisconsin, A Little Poetry, Off the Coast, the Bent Pin Quarterly, the Boston Literary Magazine, Caduceus, the Connecticut River Review and the Tipton Poetry Journal in addition to the anthologies Undone Poems by Shijin (Hanover Press, 2009) and We Shijin, Book 1 (Hanover Press, 2004). Her poem "Battle Cry of a Dying Barn" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2010. She is co-chair of The Poetry Institute-New Haven and a member of Shijin, a poetry performance troupe.
