Ruth Virginia Leavstrom

Starting as a lead soprano in the chorus at East Haven High, Leavstrom (1923-2012) performed on Ted Mack’s Original Amateur Hour. She gave public performances of classical music in English, French, German, Italian and Swedish. She was employed as a soloist for many New Haven area churches including the Hamden Plains Methodist Church. She was also a long-time member of the New Haven Chorale.
