Debby Applegate

Pulitzer historian Applegate, an American Studies major at both Amherst College (B.A.) and Yale University (Ph.D.) won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography (2007) as well as several other awards for her book The Most Famous Man in America: The Biography of Henry Ward Beecher. She has taught American history at Yale and Wesleyan Universities, and biography and memoir writing at Marymount Manhattan College. Applegate serves on the governing boards of The New Haven Review, the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, the Yale Summer Cabaret, and the Friends of the Amherst College Library.
