Ruth T. Brooks
Ruth T. Brooks (08/17/1926-05/03/2013) started her career as an analytic chemist and later founded and played violin and viola in the Hamden Symphony Orchestra, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012. For the past thirty years, the Ruth T. Brooks Scholarship Award has been presented to a deserving and qualified Hamden High graduate who has demonstrated excellence in the field of music. With a passion for music and teaching, Brooks taught piano, violin, viola and guitar to hundreds of students over fifty years out of her homes in New Hampshire and Connecticut.
