Sheila de Bretteville

The Caroline M. Street Professor of Art at the Yale School of Art, de Bretteville specializes in public artworks in cities. Among her numerous public art projects are Biddy Mason’s Place: A Passage of Time in Los Angeles, Path of Stars in New Haven and Step(pe) in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Her posters and fine press editions are in the special collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris and other universities and libraries. She was the first tenured woman at Yale’s School of Art.
