In a lengthy career as a filmmaker, author, script writer, creative consultant, and freelance writer-director, Skiff Street resident daSilva has created a substantial body of work in visual and print media with a major focus on corporate productions and animated and live action TV commercials. His photoanimation production of Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner narrated by Sir Michael Redgrave received wide critical acclaim and numerous awards. He was a protégé of the famous Hollywood director Frank Capra and a friend of Rod Serling. He produced four books published by Eastman Kodak including The World of AnimationThe Business of Filmmaking, and Sound: Magnetic Sound Recording for Motion Pictures. He is also the author of Making Money in Film and Video and has taught screen and media writing at several New York colleges.
